Pro Life or Pro Death? A Science Lesson For Today.

As a Libertarian I am Pro Choice, and as a Catholic Christian I am Pro Life. Most would see this as a contradiction of terms, but it really is not. The term Pro Choice has been characterized by those who defend Abortion, but it truly coincides with the libertarian principle of self ownership. In Catholicism it is what we call free will. I believe in Free Will and the right of everyone to exercise it. The other side of that coin is the acceptance of the consequences of that free will. If you choose to drive while intoxicated, it is possible that you could crash, destroy property or possibly kill someone or even yourself. The consequences could range from having to repair your car, make restitution for damages, pay fines, suffer imprisonment, or even death. Believers know that living a morale, holy life will be rewarded in heaven and that the consequence of leading an immoral or amoral life might result in damnation in hell. We all have the right to make this choice, however because of F...

All those who choose... Pledge Allegiance by taking the Oath of Citizenship.

Last year I posted this on my twitter and got a lot of positive feedback. “So here is a crazy idea.... What if all Americans had to successfully pass the Naturalization classes and examination given to immigrants before taking their Oath of Citizenship. Of course, I would never force anyone to take the oath, they could remain a Resident non-citizen.” Have you ever read the Oath that Naturalized Citizens take before being granted America citizen ship? The text of the US citizenship oath is: “I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law;...

My opinion about Texas Funding "The Wall" from 2006.....

I wrote this in 2006 when running for State Senate D17 against Kyle Janek.  FROM MY ORIGINAL BLOG: Liberty In Texas. JULY 28, 2006    First, I see the immigration situation primarily as a property rights issue. WE the people of the Texas, collectively own our state. WE relinquish authority to EO’s to run it, but WE are the stakeholders. Therefore, as a Libertarian I seek protection against other nations, or people who trespass on OUR property. This is why I applaud the Minute Men project and encourage our EO’s to use our Texas Military to Guard against this invasion. Many would say that illegals have a right to live freely, and I agree, however they do not have a right to infringe upon the rights of Texans or any other free people, by entering our State in a fraudulent manner. (This argument translates well on a National level; however, I am a Sate Senate candidate.) Any who would enter within the guidelines set forth by our State and National laws, WE welcome and en...

Who does your US House Representative represent?!?!

I'm running for the US House of Representatives TX CD9. The incumbent Al Green has clearly demonstrated that he listens to, caters too and patronizes immigrants, both legal and illegal. I understand the sentiment for immigrants since my family came to this country as French, German, and Scottish immigrants to name a few. We took on some native American genealogy  through the French side of the family tree. Ojibwe, Chippewa, and Iroquois I'm told, but when researching this my sister could only find references to spouses listed in the records as... wife (Indian). We are pretty sure which reservations but not absolutely sure which tribes. My wife's family is Spanish and Mexican Indian mix, probably Olmec on her mother's side, and her Father claimed full blooded Tarascan Indian. Also on her mother's side were Sephardic Jews its rumoured who settled in Mexico, but that would be part of the Spanish side. My daughter married a man who is descended from Irish, and Eng...

Immigration Issues

Immigration Issues: So, I was asked about the Libertarian Party Platform and specifically how it relates to some of the issues that are pertinent to this current election cycle. Below I will do my best to answer these. Of course, my answers will come from my interpretation of our Platform, so some people may differ with my opinions. 1) Immigration: I am not an Open Borders Libertarian. I think people who want to come to these United States should have the opportunity to seek citizenship and share in all that America has to  offer. This is not to say everyone, all the time, any way they want, however. Below I have outlined our party platform and my personal libertarian philosophy on these issues. a) Legal and Illegal Immigration. Party Position: Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders. However, we support control over the entry into our country of foreign nationals who pose a credible threat to securi...

Thoughts about Immigration and Guest Workers From: Mike Ryan

Below I have shared 2 short letters about immigration and guest workers from Mike Ryan, Libertarian Candidate for US House Texas Congressional District 10. Mike and I have become friends while running for the US House. I enjoy our discussions even though we do not agree on every subject. On immigration we are very close. Mike is uniquelt qualified to speak on this since he has a one generation connection to immigration of his family. I do not. My immigrant ancestors were mainly French trappers in the Canadian wilderness, thier indian wives,  Scottish traders in the North East and German Immigrant who became coal miners in Pennsylvania. My links to their lives were lost as my family migrated throughout the early US. My thoughts on immigration. - by: Mike Ryan My grandparents came here legally about 110 years ago and I have the Ellis island certificates to prove it. They came her with hopes and dreams like everyone else, but also with a great respect for American va...

Differences Between Me and the Incumbent...

Recently I was asked …..Where do I and Incumbent Representative Al Green differ…  - Phil Kurtz, 2018 Candidate for  US House  Texas Congressional District 9.  The best way to illustrate the ways Incumbent Al Green would I would differ in the representation of Texas Congressional District 9, is to show where I would have voted differently than he over the last year. Below are a number of House Bills and Resolutions. In reading them I made a decision based on each motion’s alignment with my values as a conservative Libertarian. Part1 H R 7       RECORDED VOTE      24-Jan-2017      4:48 PM QUESTION:   On Passage BILL TITLE:  To prohibit taxpayer funded abortions No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act Sponsored by Chris Smith (R-N.J.) and Rep.
